These homeowners desperately needed a bathroom upgrade, having just one bathroom to share between their kids and guests. In their new layout, a front bathroom nicely tucked away from living areas provides powder room functionality for guests while the private bathrooms have been moved upstairs. Having privacy, beauty and a sense of visual fun were imperatives for the design.
Lacking in natural light, the homeowners opted to lean into the darker tones. While working with a pretty basic powder room rectangular shape, the decision was made to combine a medieval-patterned wallpaper from House of Hackney, jewel tones and a muted rose paint color to give what could have been a boring space some energy and excitement.
The homeowners went all in with color and texture. From the pendant lamp to the bird sculpture mirror to the lion-filled wallpaper, there is interest in every view. Rich-toned Blue Jean lava stone wall tile from Color One and Riad Tile in Norwegian Rose Marble on the shower floor are highlighted by an elegantly arched black-trimmed glass door. A white Kohler toilet and Saylor faucet and shower from Delta Faucet in Champagne Bronze complete the cottage-cozy room.
