Old-World Bar Inspiration
CASSIA WYNER
CW Design, Brookline, MA
The goal for this project for Cassia Wyner was to transform an existing music room into a sophisticated, dual-purpose space that serves as both a bar and a comfortable family sitting room. The design aimed to create a versatile environment that seamlessly transitions between intimate gatherings and everyday family relaxation.
The clients requested a space that would maintain the warmth of a family room while incorporating a fully equipped wet bar area. The goal was to create a look inspired by old-world New York City bars, featuring classic design elements. Cohesive integration was also important, making the room feel like a natural extension of the home while creating a distinctive destination within it.
The custom bar structure appears as a freestanding furniture piece in dark walnut with a transitional design and dramatic, built-in lighting and aged brass hardware. It includes ample display shelving, an antique mirror backsplash and marble countertop, as well as cleanup features that include an 18″ paneled Bosch dishwasher, brass and bronze sink and faucet. A 24″ Sub-Zero paneled undercounter beverage refrigerator is also featured.
