Light & Bright
BRIAN PATTERSON DESIGN
ALAIR DECATUR
Decatur, GA
The homeowners were looking to add a second bathroom, a true primary suite, in the existing footprint of the home. By making use of an enclosed porch and modifying the layout to take advantage of hallways and walkways that were no longer useful, Patterson was able to stay within the footprint.
They tucked the new tankless water heater into a closet and moved the washer and dryer into a new compact mudroom. Doing this allowed plenty of space for a double vanity, generous shower and private commode chamber.
No space had to be stolen from the adjoining bedroom so it was able to stay essentially as it was. Using light finishes throughout and incorporating high windows allowed the space to feel airy and light filled. And though relatively compact for a primary bath, it is still well equipped for the homeowners to age in place.
An extensive vanity with double sinks highlights one wall, finished in Sherwin-Williams Escape Gray, and is adorned with Anthropologie Alverta Ceramic Knobs in White, which truly act as jewelry in the space. A quartz countertop in honed Calcutta Michelangelo coordinates with the Sobu Canvas White tile in the shower and Sobu Morning Blend Matte Hex Mosaic on the floor. Brass fittings and accessories, Davis Double Sconces in Natural Brass and Domed Turtle Shade Opal, and Regency Hill Soft Gold White Glass Schoolhouse Ceiling Light finish the space.
