Designer, influencer challenges the status quo
Cheryl Kees Clendenon has a long history of being a trend setter. A well-known industry speaker who loves to challenge the status quo, the 20-year veteran designer and blogger is often in the limelight, whether taking home NBKA awards four years running, participating in the Modenus Blog Tour, being a Silestone Trendspotter, serving on the BLANCO Design Council, being one of the first to be selected for the DXV designer panel or being a featured presenter at KBIS.
After starting her entrepreneurial pursuit in her own home as a solo act, she quickly built her reputation and client list as an interior designer, and soon she decided to put together a design team and open a retail showroom showcasing original art, furnishings, hardware, lighting and other beautiful objects. This year, In Detail Interiors was selected by the home furnishings industry as a finalist for the prestigious Dallas Market Arts Award for her showroom and her team’s innovative marketing efforts.
Her fearless style and irreverent approach to design have won her numerous design awards, and her well-read blog has further extended her reach, with Fixr naming her a Top Influencer in 2017. Her work has been published in over 70 consumer magazines and books, including multiple covers. She now mentors other designers with her no-nonsense approach in all matters of small business and running a showroom.
