Designer celebrates natural geometry
Architecture and sculpture inspired by the forms of nature found in biophilic design are the passion of Mark Rosenhaus, CKD, founder and CEO of Rosenhaus Design Group in New York, NY.
He began his kitchen design career in 1983 and in 1988 earned his CKD. In 1999, he established Rosenhaus Design Group, and that same year he was a founding member of the NKBA Manhattan Chapter. He has been recognized by numerous design contests throughout his career and has judged the NKBA Student Design Contest.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior/Environmental Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Rosenhaus asserts that cabinets are more than boxes, pointing to his use of Fibonacci and Golden Ratio design principles in his kitchen design. He considers those principles so indispensable that he has presented a talk entitled “Geometry in Nature: The DNA of Design” for a number of years. The stated goal of this presentation is to “energize designers’ innate intuition and add vitality and movement to creative designs that sell.” The 62% Golden Rectangle and Fibonacci numbers are found in everything from your finger, a pretty face, pineapples, the Taj Mahal and Saturn, he says.
