Designer shares talent with community, industry and homeowners
Natalia Pierce CMKBD, WELL AP, CLIPP, began her career taking classes toward an architectural technologist diploma and quickly realized her passion fell in between the technical and decorative side of design. It was her attention to detail and understanding of the structural and mechanical elements that made kitchen and bath design an ideal fit. She is currently the owner of Detail by Design in Ottawa, Ontario.
Throughout her 15+ year career, Pierce has been an instrumental member of her local NKBA Chapter, NKBA National Board of Directors, Chapter Leadership Committee, Ambassador for the Living in Place Institute and co-author of the Adaptiv Home program for the Canadian Home Builders Association. Believing in always giving back to her community and the industry, she is the 2022-25 NKBA Ottawa Chapter President.
Pierce’s first book, Inside Renovations, became available in June 2022 and was written to guide homeowners through renovation challenges, including the emotions that go along with a project. Her next big project is co-developing a course to educate designers and homeowners on how to incorporate critical principles such as wellness, aging-in-place, universal design and other long-term functionality details into home design and renovations.
