Biographical design delves into the personal story of each client
Katie Gutierrez’s professional career began in architecture and has expanded into an innovative and transformative international interior design business through a design philosophy known as Biographical Design, which brings out the clients “biographical story.” Her distinctive approach has gained the attention of many magazines such as Luxe Interiors + Design, Home & Garden, HGTV and more.
Born and raised in Miami, Gutierrez, president of ERREZ Interior Design in Miami, Fl, was always exercising her creativity and imagination through different outlets, especially through storytelling. As Gutierrez got older, she wanted to combine her love for creativity with her desire to help others. That’s when her admiration for interior design blossomed.
She began her official journey with design at the University of Florida, from which she graduated with a master’s degree in Architecture. After UF, she made her way back down to Miami, where she worked for MC Harry, one of Miami’s oldest architecture firms, and was actively involved in her community through volunteering and as vice president of a business networking group.
Gutierrez always knew, though, that she had a bigger calling in the industry, and in 2009 she started ERREZ Interior Design with her husband Ruben. Their work at ERREZ has been featured in multiple national publications including Architectural Digest, Veranda and House Beautiful.
Her work has received a nod from the Architecture and Construction RED Awards with the Interior Design Firm of the Year designation. Additionally, her work was showcased in the 2023 Kips Bay Designer Show House.
