Designer background affords comfort in all levels of construction and design
With a creative background and a degree in fine art, Anneke Huisman has always enjoyed drawing and creating. While exploring ways to apply her creativity practically, she spent 15 years at a big box store across many departments, becoming immersed in all aspects of construction. There, she fell in love with kitchen design, which allowed her to link her creativity with a love of space planning and making spaces unique for the people who live there.
Huisman spent the following eight years as a kitchen and bath designer for a lumberyard, where she honed her design skills. With her construction background, she’s just as comfortable walking a job site and reviewing rough framing, plumbing and electrical as she is behind a computer drafting a rendering of a new kitchen.
In 2024, she joined KSI Kitchen & Bath as a senior designer, where she helps homeowners craft beautiful, functional spaces. She also serves on the board of the local chapter of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, where she connects with other industry professionals to create professional growth and educational opportunities for the membership. She has a passion for investing deeply in the local community and is always trying to connect her skills and talents with those around her and local non-profits whose focus is housing and community enhancement. She writes articles and leads webinars locally and nationally on building client engagement, communicating as a creative individual and design trends.
Huisman has three teens who keep her pretty busy with all their activities; however, in her free time, she also enjoys painting, allowing her to explore her creativity from a different angle.
