New York City provides foundation for contemporary designer
Over the course of her career, Jessica Shaw has pushed the boundaries of the conventional role of an interior designer. Originally moving to New York City to join a selected team of designers who were developing a new store design prototype for Estee Lauder, Shaw went on to gain experience in a variety of disciplines ranging from retail and residential design to live events, production design and art direction for film, and video production for installations and performance art.
In 2002, the Toronto native – who graduated from Ryerson University with a bachelor of fine arts in Interior Design – founded Moment Design, where she managed residential projects around New York City. As a rising designer, she was featured in notable publications for her contemporary design.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, she joined forces with Wayne Turett, founder of The Turett Collaborative, bringing her interior design point of view to dozens of residential and commercial projects. In 2014, the two companies merged, and Shaw now serves as director of Interior Design for The Turett Collaborative in New York. She is often looked to as a leading voice in New York’s design scene, providing insight and tips for designers and design lovers alike in various publications.
