Ocean Breeze

At this summer home on the ocean, the tight footprint of this 63-sq.-ft. bathroom was hampered further by a window that provided limited privacy from the neighbors and no real view of the water. The solution became all about “touching” the ocean.
The shower invites the side-yard window into the shower so touchable droplets of water shimmer from the windows. Fins added on the outside reclaim privacy and angle to shade away direct sunlight and control heat gain. The shower location also invites ocean views through the bedroom door, so when the homeowners shower they have two exposures of light and ocean sky.
Custom cabinets by Shay Gallo Construction are topped with Caesarstone Fresh Concrete countertops and a Kohler sink with Speakman Vector faucets. The shower tiles are Glazzio’s Crystille Series in Morning Mist, a watery blue that mimics the ocean. Floor tile by Happy Floors in Acorn Natural matches the color of sand, and the bedroom’s light oak wood flooring makes the transition even more seamless.
