Bold Color Blocking
Rima Nasser
TEW Design Studio, Raleigh, NC
This primary bathroom in Raleigh, NC transitioned from a dated, bland space to a dramatic part of the home via its colorful adaptation of the Memphis Design style. His and hers closets were removed to double the bathroom size and a short hallway flanked by two closets was removed as the new layout took over living space to transition into an adjoining closet and powder room.
The homeowners liked the idea of color blocking in the space, and they knew they wanted it to be vibrant and bold. Impeccable attention to detail was required, from matching the paint colors to cutting the custom curved glass to designing the herringbone tile pattern.
The Woodharbor Breeze cabinetry is featured in a stained Maple finish, topped with Silestone by Cosentino Charcoal Soapstone in a Honed finish. Accessories and hardware are from Emtek’s Jasper line in matte black. The 67″ freestanding tub is from Barclay Products, and the tub, shower and sink faucets are all Hansgrohe in matte black. Shower wall tiles are Specialty Tile Drift in Emerald, with uneven surfacing and a polished finish, and floor tiles are Specialty Tile Granum Bianco in a matte finish. The Lighting is from Sazerac Stitches.
