Zen City Bath
Paulina Hospod
AhA!nteriors Corp., Richmond Hill, NY
Replacing what was previously a kitchen and dining room in this New York City home, this bathroom, created by Hospod and Albert Rutkowski of AhA!nteriors Corp., was added to create a primary suite with a spa-like feel. Creative floor planning allowed for a large shower, freestanding bathtub, double vanity, a separate toilet room and a main closet in the existing space. The floor was opened to accommodate new plumbing and also to reinforce the floor joists to carry the load of the tub. The clients wanted durability, so they selected a solid surface (rather than acrylic) Signature Hardware 56″ Winifred tub that weighs almost 400 pounds.
Natural marble tiles on the walls and shower, fluted accent marble behind the freestanding bathtub, natural brass fixtures and hardware by Watermark, a custom walnut vanity and an enormous shower elevate this space to a tranquil retreat. Floor heating was added to the bathroom, including the shower area, in order to provide additional comfort and an enjoyable experience in the clients’ zen space.
The 36″x36″ floor and shower tiles are from Ann Sacks’ Anika collection and lighting is from the Rousseau line by Circa.
