This 1920s two-story bungalow required an update to the kitchen and bar area. The new kitchen was placed where the old dining room was situated as it was a wider space and wouldn’t interrupt the main thoroughfare through the center of the house. The shifting of rooms required the relocation of windows and doors, and the design plan also had to work around supports and beams.
To coordinate with a necessary beam, a second beam of equal dimension was incorporated to create the look of a hearth at the 36″ Monogram rangetop. To further play up the look, the designer raised the bottom of the cabinets on the wall and added recessed niches in the wing walls. The clients requested two Monogram glass door refrigerator/freezers, complete with convertible drawers, which acted as sweet and savory fridges – the savory here and the sweet at the baking area. A Monogram Advantium 5-in-1 speed oven is also featured on this wall.
Cabinets from Holiday Kitchens are included in three finishes: Black paint for the uppers, Maple Nutmeg for the lowers and a custom green for the island. Cabinet pulls are Amwell from Top Knobs.
A large window at the back of the house includes an area for baking, complete with a Monogram single wall oven. Floating shelves across the windows hold cookbooks, dishes and plants.
The island acts as a large workstation, with a nearby butcher block top for prepping foods. A large workstation sink is placed near the Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers. Countertops here include Pompeii Volaza and Custom Wood Black Limba.
Across from the kitchen, the bar is a statement area that showcases New Ravenna’s Byrd vivid owl and bird tile. Black cabinetry is topped with Cambria black quartz and includes two Monogram 24″ refrigerator drawers.
