Timeless Elegant Kitchen
Diana Burton
Drury Design, Glen Ellyn, IL
Empty nest homeowners decided to build their dream kitchen, replacing their outdated, traditional style space with one that would satisfy their passion for cooking, entertaining and hosting holiday gatherings. Burton met the couple’s desire for an elegant, timeless kitchen with a show-stopping design that was not only functional for daily routines but for special occasions with friends and family.
A spacious island provides seating for a more engaging atmosphere when entertaining, as well as ample prep space. Included here is a Dresser and Workstation from The Galley, which provides a workspace as well as storage for all of the sink’s accessories. It is paired with custom cabinetry with the Hampton door style in walnut, finished in Flatiron Gray. Sitting on top is a slab of Calacatta Gold marble.
A wall cabinet near the window was removed, allowing for the addition of natural light. It was replaced with lighted open shelves that provide storage but offer a more airy feel. A sink with both a faucet and filtered water faucet sit below the window. Custom cabinets along this and the perpendicular wall feature the Hampton door style in maple with a white finish and feature accessories such as organization for mail and phone-charging drawers. Perimeter countertops are Diresco Supreme White quartz, while the backsplash above the Wolf cooktop is marble.
Tall cabinetry with pullouts along the main wall maximize storage within the space. A Wolf wall oven and steam oven are situated next to a paneled refrigerator and freezer.
Gold touches on the hardware, lighting and range hood tie the space together.
