Warm Wood Touches
COCO KANAKIS
Coco Kanakis Design, Chappaqua, NY
The primary bathroom of this lively Armonk, NY-home needed to be transformed to serve as a quiet counterpoint to the vibrant rhythm of family life – elegant, restorative and intentionally composed. Traditional cream beadboard and dark marble enclosed plumbing furniture were to be replaced with a freestanding Badeloft Matte White Composite tub made of natural marble and limestone, a glass-enclosed shower area with Watermark Design fittings and accessories in Pewter finish and a private water closet with a Kohler San Souci comfort height, compact, elongated toilet with a Kohler bidet seat.
The sculptural freestanding tub helped open up floor space and enhance spatial flow. The design modernized the formerly traditional space through generous scale, monolithic forms and a quiet editing of visual noise – layered with subtle nods to the home’s classic character.
Daltile Remedy wall tiles and a white oak custom vanity created a muted, earthy palette. Wood ceiling planks and floor detailing add warmth to the Artistic Tile Balkan Beige Matte tile. Lighting and mirrors from Restoration Hardware complete the overall aesthetic.
