Harrison Street Primary Bath, San Francisco, CA
As part of a full renovation of this circa 1900 San Francisco residence, the clients wanted a primary bathroom that could deliver a spa-like experience while still aligning with the character of the historic Victorian home. The design focused on clean lines, natural materials and a sense of visual openness – highlighted by unlacquered brass fixtures, oak Workhorse Cabinetry, handmade tile, and a seamless walk-in shower with multiple fittings from House of Rohl.
The original space was cramped, dark and structurally inconsistent, with limited natural light and awkward framing. Plumbing had to be fully rerouted within narrow wall cavities, and new framing was needed to support the revised layout.
Larkspur Builders, working with co-designer Julia Miller of Minnesota-based Yond Interiors, approached the primary bath with an emphasis on clean lines, durable materials and architectural discipline. The room was reframed to enable a more efficient layout, including space for a full walk-in shower, an MTI Baths’ Alissa freestanding soaking tub and custom oak reeded vanity with a Davinci Marble Calacatta Caldia honed countertop. A TOTO sink, Waterworks toilet, warm wood tones and integrated Davinci Calcutta green marble tile radiant flooring round out the space – creating a deeply tailored, light-filled retreat that feels at once grounded and elevated.
